Plengkung Beach, also known as G Land is an internationally renowned surf break situated on the Grajagan Bay, Alas Purwo National Park, East Java, Indonesia about half a day by road from the popular tourist destinations of Bali. Plengkung Beach or G-Land is most commonly reached via boat charter from Bali.
Plengkung beach is located 20 kilometers from the village Grajagan and included as part of the National Park Alas Purwo Banyuwangi, East Java province of Indonesia. Plengkung Beach is also known among surfers as G-Land has a wave with a height of 6 to 8 meters along the 2 kilometer. Waves on the Plengkung Beach also has 7 rolls at intervals of about 5 minutes as a result of seawater pressure from the South Pole. No wonder if the waves on the beach is touted as the second best waves after Hawaii.
One proof of his fame is in this beach surfing competition ever held international level, known as "G-Land Banyuwangi International Team Challenge". The competition was attended by 12 teams of surfers from eight countries, namely Australia, France, America, Britain, New Zealand, and Indonesia. In addition to the Plengkung Beach, the waves of that size exist only in Hawaii and South Africa. And peak arrival of the waves occur from April to August each year. On this beach ever international surfing competition is held Quicksilver Pro Surfing Championship in 1995, 1996, and 1997 as well as the Da Hui Pro Surfing World Championship Series III 2003. With its potential, Plengkung beach is also known as a heaven for professional surfers.
